The dewatering machine defines what useful floc must do. Polymer that produces impressive bench floc may fail if it cannot drain through a belt, survive centrifuge shear or release water inside a screw press.

Choose the equipment path first

Use common dose units and distinct endpoints

Normalize polymer to active mass per dry mass of sludge. Keep feed solids, flow, solution concentration and actual pump output in the same record. Then measure the outcomes that matter to each machine rather than relying on visual floc size.

Separate chemistry from mechanical condition

Poor performance can originate in worn belts, blocked spray bars, centrifuge settings, screw speed, back pressure, flow variation or a drifting solids meter. Establish a stable mechanical baseline before ranking polymer grades. The trial plan includes a minimum operating record.
